Are you Interested in starting a career in the Security Industry? Do you want to know How to become a Security Guard? Security training begins at Certificate II in Security Operations (CPP20218).
All potential guards must apply for training and pass a series of checks in order to begin. Once approved we inform SLED of your training requirements prior to commencing of scheduled classes.
The Certificate II course consists of several Units from the nationally recognised Qualification, Certificate II in Security Operations (CPP20218) and Modules that prepare you for working in the security industry.
The Licence Categories are listed below describing the type of work you will be eligible to do in the Security Industry with what classes of licence with specific qualification requirements.

Category 1A1C - Unarmed Guard; Crowd Controlled

Required for: Static and unarmed guard, patrol and crowd control

Required qualification: Certificate II in Security Operations - CPPSEC20218

Category 1B - Bodyguard

Required for: Bodyguarding and Close-Protection.

Required qualification: Certificate III in Security Operations - CPPSEC31418

Category 1D - Dog Handler
-
Required for: Any dog handling security.

Required qualification: Certificate III in Security Operations - CPPSEC31318

Category 1E - Controlroom Operator

Required for: Control room monitoring work.

Required qualification: No qualification reguires. Probity check on applicant applies by SLED.

Category 1F - Armed Guard

Required for: ALL Armed security work such as Cash-in-Transit, etc.

Required qualification: Certificate III in Security Operations - CPPSEC31318

Category CLASS 2 LICENCE

Required for: 2A Security Consultant; 2B Security Seller; 2C Security Equipment Specialist; 2D Security Trainer

Required qualification: Certificate IV (CPP40719), Diploma (CPP50619) or Degree in Security and Risk Managment plus relevant experience. For Class 2D applicant must provide a minimum of TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus relevant industry experience.
